Waiting in the Wings - rehearsed reading
Coward Studio
Wings is a three act play set in a retirement home near Bourne End, providing a home for elderly actresses who have fallen on hard times and can no longer support themselves in the manner they would like to be accustomed to. The play is spread over three acts starting in June 1960 with the arrival at Wings of Lotta Bainbridge and her confrontation with existing resident May Davenport who has refused to speak to her for thirty years and ending a year later.
A rehearsed reading (also called a script-in-hand performance or staged reading) is a form of performance where actors read from the script, typically with minimal movement, staging, or technical elements like lighting or costumes. It’s somewhere between a full production and a table read.
